Drive by or Fly In, the revival of the Yucca Valley Private Airport’s restaurant stays true to its vintage 1957 roots. Sip gimlets or their signature desert bird cocktail from the large windows of the curved bar. Watch Cessna 72s and Piper Aeros take off and land on the small asphalt runway, braving high desert winds.

Checkered vinyl flooring, mirrors and dark wood panels give the red leather booths in back a “That 70s Show vibe.” The occasional DJ plays to the crowd on the small town dance floor.

We suggest shisheto peppers, french fries and margaritas if you can convince the hostess to let you have the seats by the fire. From the owners of The Red Dog Saloon and Pioneertown Motel, we’re so happy to see this classic building revived and thriving as a local’s favorite.
